Coach Announcements
Attention Mako Sharks
Dear Parents and Swimmers,
We are excited to start a new season with the Makos. So far, practices are running well and we appreciate your cooperation
and patience. In the past we have talked about goals and as coaches we have tried to personally find out what the goals of
our swimmers are. This year we would like to know the goal of every swimmer on the team and do what we can to help them
reach that goal. If you could take some time in the next few days to talk to your swimmer about at least one goal they would
like to achieve this season that would be helpful. We expect a goal in writing by Friday from each swimmer. Please read
"The 10 Commandments of Swimming" on the web-site and remember to make goals that are personal, fun, and realistic.
Not all swimmers are at the same place. For our 6 & Unders, a goal might be to swim the entire length of the pool breathing to
the side, not turning over on backstroke, or learning a new stroke. For our intermediate swimmers, a goal might be to become
legal in a stroke, to swim all events this year (legally), or to cut time each meet. We expect goals that involve times from
our older and more advanced swimmers. There is no reason that we can't take more swimmers to the invitational meets this year;
particularly Ponderosa.
Finally, it takes WORK to achieve goals. We will be taking this team through a full training season that is going to get
increasingly difficult. As a swimmer, it is so much easier to maintain focus and drive through hard practices when there
is a purpose.
We appreciate your cooperation and will do everything we can to ensure a positive experience this summer,
Coaches
